The Forest Industry Taskforce Core Group met again for three day-long workshops last week: Monday and Tuesday at Abbotsford, and Friday in Parkville.
In line with the Terms of Reference, and in the context of reaching durable outcomes through consensus decision-making, the Group progressed content for the mid-year report to the Premier.
This involved refining opportunities for change, processes for the path ahead, and investigating and progressing short-term durability.
The Core Group processed information and areas of agreement for a series of areas of work, including around wood supply, threatened species, establishment of parks and reserves, regulatory revision and reform, carbon opportunities, jobs and regional employment, the future shape of the industry and the future shape of conservation and the parks system.
The Core Group will meet again this week.
